Aunt Butch wanted to be organized for all events, her passing was no exception. She left instructions with her 4 Redheads, as she came to call us, that when she passed away there was a box in her closet with her funeral wishes and the clothes in which she wanted to be buried. Per her request we got the box marked Funeral Instructions down and opened it. Wrapped in tissue paper was a navy suite , a baggie with brand new socks, painties and bra, then we noticed a small baggie pinned to the suite collar containing some jewerly as we turned it over it we found it labeled,"Jewerly-leave it on-cheap set--Ha". In all our tears there she was having a little laugh. She had tucked in a poem as well. I feel she was trying to comfort those she loved.
When I'm Gone
When I come to the end of my journey
And I travel my last weary mile
Just forget if you can, that I ever frowned
And remember only the smile.
Forget unkind words I have spoken
Remember some good I have done
Forget that I ever had a heartache
And remember I've had loads of fun
Forget that I've stumbled and blundered
And sometimes fell by the way
Remember I have fought some hard battles
And won, ere the close of day.
Then forget to grieve for my going
I would not have you sad for a day
But in sumer just gather some flowers
And remember the place where I lay.( with Sarge)
And come in the shade of the evening
When the sun paints the sky in the west
Stand for a few moments beside me
And remember only my best.
And once you have thought of old memories
Of the things we once used to do
Know that you still are with me
For I left this world loving you.
