My heart goes out to the Brennan family. There weren’t many weekends growing up that my family didn’t visit the Brennan farm to spend time with Tom, Terry, and his family. They welcomed us with open arms and many days were spent BBQ’ing, watching football, doing batting practice on apples, playing badminton, swimming at the creek, searching for morels, hunting, fishing, working cattle, fixing farm equipment, laughing, and enjoying each other’s company. Tom taught me many important life lessons like the value of hard work, sticking by your principals, respecting your elders (filial piety), and not finishing off the coffee ice cream (having consideration for others). These were some of the best times of my life and Tom’s dream of moving to Mansfield to be a land and cattle baron made it all possible. Thanks to a great man that I was very, very fortunate to get to know and learn from. I hope you are back on the farm, reunited with Terry, eating a steak you “cooked to perfection” with a frosty glass, enjoying a beautiful sunset over the Douglas County hills. I will miss you.
