Willis Smith

Willis Gene Smith, born June 16, 1926 in Mount Vernon, MO, passed away Thursday, May 15, 2014 at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, MO. Gene was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He is survived by three children, Stanley, Rusty, and Laura; three grandchildren, Miranda, Matthew, and Andrew and one great-grandchild, Presley. Gene retired from Lily Tulip in 1979. He loved his family, Cardinal baseball, Mount Vernon football, playing his guitar, hunting and fishing. A memorial graveside service with military honors will be held Tuesday, May 20, 2014 at 2: 00 p.m, at the Missouri Veteran’s Cemetery under the care of Herman H. Lohmeyer Funeral Home.
