Veralee Lucille Williams

Veralee L. Williams (Rainey), 83, of Springfield, Missouri, was called home to rest on Thursday, November 20, 2025. A woman defined by her deep faith and soft-spoken grace, Veralee dedicated her life to caring for others and cherishing her family.

Born in Springfield on September 29, 1942, to Ike and Florence Rainey, Veralee was a proud lifelong resident of the area. She graduated from Central High School in 1960. On December 13, 1963, she married Samuel T. Williams, a proud Vietnam Veteran.

Veralee pursued a dedicated career in healthcare as a licensed practical nurse (LPN), serving patients in New Orleans before returning to Springfield, where she retired as a healthcare provider.

She was happiest when surrounded by the loving chaos of her large, vibrant family—her "generational seeds." She was a pillar of strength and quiet wisdom to all who knew her.

Veralee was preceded in death by her parents, Ike and Florence; her beloved firstborn daughter, Kimberly Rainey, who earned her heavenly wings in 2013; and her seven siblings: Edna, James, Vernon, Carrie, Henrietta, Joseph, and Molly.

Her memory will be forever cherished by her devoted surviving children: Teresa Williams, Darrell Williams, Greg Williams, Richard Williams, and Andera Williams.

She leaves behind a rich legacy through her grandchildren: Edward Williams, David Rainey, Thomas Rainey, Mirriam Williams, Mikyla Williams, Dorrian Williams, Malik Williams, Gregory Williams Jr., Tremanye Williams, Salonica Williams, Aliyah Williams, Treyton Williams, Kyrese Doty, and Dannea Minton. She enjoyed knitting blankets as a gift to her nine great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be at 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM, Thursday, December 4, 2025, at Herman H. Lohmeyer Funeral Home: 500 E. Walnut Street, Springfield, Mo., 65806. Funeral service to follow at 7:00 PM with Bishop Jonas Foote officiating.

Graveside services will be at 11:00 AM, Friday, December 5, 2025, at Missouri Veterans Cemetery: 5201 S Southwood Rd, Springfield, MO 65804, under the care of the Herman H. Lohmeyer Funeral Home.
