Thomas Wayne Savard

Thomas Wayne “Tom” Savard entered eternal rest on August 9, 2026 following a lengthy illness. Tom was born on October 27, 1954 in Springfield, Missouri to Wayne and Betty (Sackett) Savard. In 1976 he married Glenda Inman and together they raised two daughters. As an adult, Tom felt called to the Catholic faith and entered the Church, receiving the Sacraments of Baptism, Reconciliation, Confirmation and the Eucharist.

Tom enjoyed the things that brought him closest to the people and places he loved. He looked forward to beach vacations and weekends at the lake with family and friends. He loved grilling, watching police shows, and reading about history. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. Tom was a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, and loyal friend. He was deeply loved by all who knew him and he will be greatly missed.

Tom dedicated nearly 25 years of his life to serving the City of Springfield as an officer with the Springfield Police Department, retiring in 2014. Throughout his career, he was twice honored with the Meritorious Service Award for outstanding performance, bravery, and service to the community as well as a Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of his distinguished career. Tom earned the respect of his supervisors and fellow officers and took great pride in serving and protecting his community.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Wayne Savard and Betty Savard; his sister, Karen Savard; his father- and mother-in law, Glen and Jackie Inman, to whom he was very close; as well as a beloved uncle, friends, and extended family.

He is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 50 years, Glenda Savard; his daughters, Kristyn Johnson (Matt) and Kelly Everding (Nathan); and his seven grandchildren, Ashlynn, Alivia, Pierson, Bennett, Owen, Ethan, and Clara.

A visitation will be held from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Thursday, August 13 at Herman H. Lohmeyer Funeral Home. A funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, August 14 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Monsignor Thomas Reidy and Father Thomas Kiefer celebrating. Burial will follow Mass at Hazelwood Cemetery.
