Randy Teryl Little was an Oklahoma Sooner boy from day one. He was born January 4, 1950 in Enid, Ok to David Little and Nelda Chappell Little. He joined his brother Kendell. His sisters Kathy and Robbie and brother Kirby came later. Randy loved spending summers on his Grandpa’s farm and drove a tractor with Grandpa’s help when he was 3. He graduated from Enid High in 1968 and was recruited to play both freshman and varsity football as nose guard for the Sooners. He was on the recruitment list for both the Bears and Raiders. A serious knee injury ended his Sooner football. But never keep a football lover down. He played minor league football for the Tulsa Mustangs from 1972-1973. He enrolled in Phillips University and got a degree in computer science. During that time, he worked at Enid State School and Hospital and Larry Blacks Sporting Goods in Enid.
Randy grew up not only loving football, but he loved wildlife. He taught himself taxidermy at a young age and his mother never knew what she might find. He became very involved in wildlife activities and was first appointed national chairman of both National Hunting and Fishing Day plus served 3 years as Chairman of the Grand National Quail Hunt in Enid, OK which catered to famous personalities from the movies, television, politicians, astronauts, military and other famous notables.
Randy had the itch to do other things and spent time in the Rocky Mountains fishing. He was a Toledo Bend, Tx fishing guide for 2 years and could navigate just about any body of water. He was a millwrite Asst and industrial maintenance engineer for AJ Mundy chemical plant in Houston and became Sporting Goods Manager for KEI Enterprises in Tulsa. In his later years, he started tying his own flies and grew to love trout fishing.
In 1985, Johnnie Morris recruited Randy to move to Springfield and start Wildlife Creations Taxidermy. He gave him a desk and a phone and told him to go for it. And, Randy did it. He met his wife Marla Mundell Little in 1987 and they were together for the rest of his life. Together they built a successful physician recruitment business and started The Alliance of Medical Recruiters AMR and ran that for many years.
Football never left Randy. He coached and then later was a board member for Mitey Mites in Springfield. In 2005 he started Ozarks Football League, a not-for-profit Spring league for youth players 5-8 th grades. He built lifelong friendships and provided one of the most excellent youth football programs in the nation. Health issues prohibited him continuing and he and his Board of Directors closed the program in 2024.
In declining health, he continued to find new interests which included painting, fly tying, and making NFL and Collegiate inspired football helmet lamps from retired helmets.
He loved God, his wife Marla, his boxers, fishing, family, friends, and football. He was loved.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, parents, and several nephews. He is survived by his wife Marla and his loving family on both sides.
He was cremated and did not want a service. He thought a service would disrupt loved one’s lives.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Herman H. Lohmeyer Funeral Home, Springfield, Missouri
