Matthew” Matt “France, age 53 passed away on October 21, 2025, at Cox South Hospital. He is leaving behind a legacy of adventure, kindness, and life lived at full throttle. Matt was born in Springfield, Missouri on July 7th 1972 to Joan and Medford France. Matthew graduated from Glendale High School. He later studied for his MBA and International policy at Harvard University. He received his degree in accounting from Drury University, where he later opened Matrix Accounting and Tax LLC in 2011. Matt loved his community and was proud to call Springfield, Missouri his home. He served on many boards throughout the community. He was an Officer and a member of Inspiring New Growth LLC and also the Board treasurer of the Parkinson’s Group of the Ozarks.
Matthew was a true automotive enthusiast. He was the happiest in the driver's seat enjoying the hum of a well-tuned engine. Anyone who knew Matt knew of his passion for cars. His passion for cars was a hallmark of his life. When he was not on the road or working he would love to go on a hike. Matt was an avid hiker and found peace in the great outdoors. He loved conquering new heights and finding beauty in the rugged landscapes that he loved to explore.
Matt's greatest joy, however, was found at home with his beloved boys (Smokey and Bandit). Matt will always be remembered for his generous spirit and easy laugh. Matt was a man who never met a stranger and was deeply loved by a wide circle of friends and family. Matthew will be remembered for his loyalty, his sense of humor, and his unwavering zest for lifelong. Matt was preceded in death by his mother and father(Joan and Melford France). His brother Mikeal France; his sister Debbie Williams. He is survived by his brother Mark France; his other brother, Kenderick Stewart, and a host of extended family and friends.
A celebration of life will take place on January 17th from 10:00 AM-12:00 pm at Herman H Lohmeyer Funeral Home.
In place of flowers, donations can be made to a local animal shelter or a conservation organization in Matt's honor.
