Margaret (Peggy) Ellen Agee, age 96, of Springfield, Missouri passed away peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, February 28, 2026, at her son's residence.
Peggy was born on September 6, 1929, in Clearwater, Florida the daughter of Eldon Edgar Troxell and Marjorie Ruth (Cordier) Troxell. She lived there several years and moved to Pennsylvania. Shortly thereafter Marjorie was asked by her sister Wavie to come to St. Joseph, Missouri to be close to her and her new niece. Peggy grew up there and eventually went to Lafayette High School. At a rival football game she bumped into the love of her life, Dewey Agee. After High School they were married on October 28, 1949. She had 3 children Janice, Jim & Linda.
Peggy was an avid book reader and even swapped books with several members of Wesley United Methodist Church. She was very talented; she did ceramics and she loved to sew. She also did needle point and crocheting.
She loved her Church family and everyone in her Sunday School Class. She was an active member of Wesley and served as a greeter for many years.
Paggy was preceded in death by her husband, Dewey Agee and her daughter, Janice Agee.
She is survived by her son, James Agee and her Daughter, Linda Caldron. two grandchildren, Brooke White and Nichole Gillen. She also has two great grandchildren that she loved and adored, Stori and Revan White.
She will be truly missed by all those who knew and loved her.
Visitation will be held from 11-11:30am on Monday, March 9, 2026 at Herman H. Lohmeyer Funeral Home, 500 E. Walnut Street in Springfield, Missouri where Funeral Services will begin at 11:30am in the Lohmeyer Funeral Chapel with Pastor Michael McIntyre officiating. Interment will be at 1:00pm Monday afternoon at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery, 5201 S. Southwood Road in Springfield, Missouri.
In lieu of flowers the family request contributions in Peggy's memory to the Shriner's Children Hospital or Wesley United Methodist Church.
