Lori Lynn Duggan

Lori Lynn Duggan passed away on September 26, 2026 at Cox Hospital surrounded by family.

She was born in Burlington, Iowa on August 11, 1956 to Don and Viriginia Heisler. During most of her elementary years, she lived in Morning Sun, Iowa. Her family moved to Springfield, Missouri where she graduated from Hillcrest High School, class of 1975. She was also a graduate of Springfield Cosmetology School.

After high school, she was employed by Silver Dollar City where she developed lifelong friendships. She moved to Columbia, Missouri and then spent nearly a decade in St. Louis where she had a successful career as a hair stylist.

Lori was an avid sports fan, especially of the St. Louis Cardinals. She also had a deep love for horses and enjoyed spending the day riding or barrel racing. She also loved attending home games for the Cardinals and keeping up with her other favorite sports teams.

Her desire to be near family brought her back to Springfield. She loved being closer to her mother, sisters, and beloved nephews.

Lori married the love of her life, Robbie Duggan, in 2001. He is a wonderful step-father to her daughter, Melanie (Mel), and she was very thankful for the close relationship they fostered. Lori loved raising Melanie and enjoyed being involved with her school activities. She coached her t-ball and youth softball teams, but being a band mom were some of her fondest memories. As Melanie grew, they became best friends and enjoyed common interests… especially sports. Go Cardinals!

Significant health trials plagued Lori’s life over numerous years. Her addiction to opioids was a by-product of injuries, surgeries, and medical complications. In 2013, she proudly completed the 12 Step Narcotics Anonymous Program where she became a sponsor and mentor to many. She was a loyal supporter of NA and enjoyed volunteering and leading groups at the Greene County Jail and Medical Center for Federal Prisoners. It has been our family’s joy hearing the testimonies of how she changed the lives of many she served and sponsored.

Lori was an active member of Northside Christian Church until her health declined. She had many loving friends from her time spent there.

Upon retirement, Lori enjoyed daily walks with her furry friend Finn, gardening, watching the St. Louis and Springfield Cardinals as well as other favorite sports teams with her daughter. She cherished time with family and friends. Her almost-daily texts with her brother and sisters were filled with loving inquiries about the grandchildren and nephews, and she always shared in our excitement about their travels, making us feel that she was right along with us. She was the strongest and most generous person we have ever known, always giving of herself and showing up for the people she loved. We will miss her greatly.

Lori is preceded in death by her mother and father, Virginia and Don. She is survived by her ex husband Robbie Duggan, beloved daughter Mel, sweet companion Finn, sisters Cyndi Carr and Robbin Vigil (Loren, all in Springfield), and brother Don (Diana, Salt Lake City).

A memorial for family and friends will be held at a later date.
