Leo J. Klamerus, age 96, of Nixa, Missouri passed away early Thursday morning, September 4, 2025, at Springfield Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center in Springfield, Missouri.
He was born on October 30, 1928, in East St. Louis, Illinois the son of Marie McCroskey Warwick and Leo Joseph Klamerus.
Leo graduated from East St. Louis, Illinois High School in 1946. He received his E.E. degree from Washington University and his master’s degree in E.E. and Computer Science from the University of New Mexico.
He was a member of the Tau Beta Pi. Leo served proudly in the United States Army from 1948 to 1953 during the Korean War.
Leo retired from Sandia National Laboratory in May of 1992 with 32 years of service.
He was proceeded in death by his mother, Marie McCroskey Warwick; his father, Leo Joseph Klamerus; and his son, Thomas Klamerus.
Leo is survived by his wife, Janet; two sons, James Michael Klamerus, Eric Klamerus (Ricky Adams); two stepchildren, Benard Sartori, Camala Sartori; three grandchildren, Eva Jordan Sartori, Jamie Klamerus and Brooke Klamerus.
Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00pm Wednesday, September 10, 2025, at Herman H. Lohmeyer Funeral Home, 500 E. Walnut Street in Springfield, Missouri. A Rosary Service will be held at 6:30pm.
Leo’s Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00am Thursday, September 11, 2025, at St. Joseph The Worker Catholic Church, 1796 N. State Highway NN in Ozark, Missouri with Father Timothy Tran, CRM officiating.
Burial will follow at 1:00pm in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery, 5201 S. Southwood Road in Springfield, Missouri with Full Military Honors.
