Lawrence (Larry) McClernon passed from this life into the hands of our Lord on January 25th, 2026. He is preceded in death by his parents, Bernard and Mary Katherine McClernon, and brother, Michael and his wife MaryAnn McClernon, brother-in-law David K. Pope, and niece Valerie Lynn Haigh.

Larry was born the third son of four boys and five girls, May 17th, 1951 in Springfield, MO.

He graduated from Glendale High School in 1969. He entered the United States Air Force and rose to the rank of Staff Sgt., where he served with honor and distinction.

Larry would say, "The weight of trying to live a normal life is enormous." This is the truth for those of us left behind.

Larry is survived by his brother Dan and his wife Sandy, his sister Kitty, and her husband Rick Zimmerman, sister Agnes Pope, brother Barney and his wife Cynthia Tobyas, sister Alice and her husband Jim Hansen, sister Jenny and her husband Nick Stine, and his youngest sister Sarah and her husband Don Morrissey, and many nieces and nephews. 

His many friends and family will miss him for his humor, kindness, compassion, and generosity.

Rest in peace, Larry, and know you are loved.

Larry will be entombed with military honors on May 11th, 2026 at Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Springfield, Missouri, at 2 PM.
