Josiah Davisson Daugherty was born November 21, 1984 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Martha and Davis Daugherty. He heartbreakingly left us on July 13th, 2026. Josiah was a father, husband, marine corps veteran, law enforcement officer, friend, and protector. Josiah has three children, Holly (Annie Pike), Lincoln, and Amelia (Hannah Daugherty).
Josiah graduated from Glendale High School and subsequently attended Moody Bible College before joining the Marine Corps. Josiah was part of 3/7 Kilo and his time in the marine corps included two tours to Ramadi. After being honorably discharged, Josiah attended the police academy and became a Nixa Police officer. He made an incredible difference to those in need or crisis during his time there. Josiah achieved his bachelors degree in psychology in 2014 from Drury University.
In 2021, Josiah began working for Nixa Public Schools as a School Police Officer at Summit and High Pointe Elementary. His new role allowed him to build lasting meaningful relationships with students and their families.
Josiah married his first wife, Annie in 2007 and together they had their firstborn, Holly. They stayed married until 2014. Later that year, Josiah met his current wife, Hannah. Hannah and Josiah had their son, Lincoln, in 2017. They married in 2019 in Springfield, Missouri. They had their daughter, Amelia, in 2021. Josiah, Annie, and Hannah worked together to coparent their three children and set an example for all others. Their love for all three children was felt by those who were near.
Josiah and Hannah were best friends. There was never a moment that they doubted they loved each other. His absence will be devastating.
Josiah loved fishing, hunting, yoga, kayaking, visiting his best friend, Tim, in Montana, and being outside. Josiah had many hobbies, including chess, stealing pieces of the kids food and calling it, “dad tax”, and reading whatever book he could get his hands on. Josiah loved to cook, spend time in the garden, and being with his children.
The loss of Josiah will be felt forever.
A memorial service will be held at 11 am Friday July 17, 2026 at Union Hill Church 865 N. Nicholas Road Nixa, MO under the care of Herman Lohmeyer Funeral Home.
If desired memorial contributions may be made to a suicide prevention program in Josiah's memory.
