John Ferguson, beloved brother, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 25, 2025, after a courageous battle with aggressive cancer. He was 61 years old.

Born on November 23, 1963, John was the cherished son of the late Beverly and Alton Robert Ferguson. A lifelong lover of history, John was known as the family historian — always eager to share stories, facts, and memories that connected generations. His passion for World War I and World War II extended beyond books; he spent countless hours carefully crafting model airplanes that reflected his deep respect for the past.

John had a remarkable memory and never forgot a birthday, a testament to the love and thoughtfulness he carried for each member of his family. He will be remembered for his sharp mind, gentle humor, and his ability to make everyone feel known and valued.

In his final months, John was lovingly cared for by his sister, Mary Larson, whose devotion and compassion brought great comfort to him and the family.

John is preceded in death by his parents, Beverly and Alton Robert Ferguson. He is survived by his siblings Bob (Michelle), Tom (Shelley), Jim, Bill (Carla), Mary Larson (Wayne), Laura Griffin Boyle (Mark), and Elizabeth Ferguson; as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews who adored him.

His legacy of love, curiosity, and family connection will continue to live on through all who knew him.

A celebration of John’s life will be held at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Springfield, Missouri on Monday, November 3, 2025 at 11AM, with visitation beginning at 10:00 AM. Father Tom Kiefer will be officiating. Burial will follow at Rivermonte Cemetery in Springfield, Missouri. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Herman H. Lohmeyer Funeral Home in Springfield.
