Jo (Joyce) Louise Gault, age 91 passed away peacefully with her family by her side on August 4th 2025 in Springfield, MO.
Jo was born on December 2nd 1933 in Kansas City, MO to the late Marvin and Daisy Miller. She attended Raytown High School where she met and married her first love Robert (Bob) Bailey. Together they raised two children, the late Philip Craig Bailey and their daughter, Kimberlee Looney.
Family life with Bob was active and happy. Summers were spent on adventurous camping excursions that blended a deep love of nature, fun and educational opportunities. The family shared a love of sports as they cheered on their local Kansas City teams and also enjoyed golf, tennis, bowling, basketball, ping pong, and billiards. They loved getting together with friends where love and laughter were the main theme. They gave their children the most treasured gift of all: a firm foundation in the Lord Jesus Christ.
After Bob passed, Jo found solace expressing herself through artwork and going back to work. Her professionalism and intuitive nature equipped her well to manage the office of a renowned opthomologist in Kansas City. This work introduced her to the local hospital network where she became actively involved as a volunteer and eventually became President of the Hospital Auxiliary.
Eventually Jo found love again with her second husband Larry Gene Gault. She lovingly embraced Larry’s three daughters, Laura Welch, Robin Cornerman and Stacy Schneider, blending her family with grace and warmth.
Jo’s life was now filled with travel adventures to many world destinations as well as yearly naval reunions across the country, and winter escapes to warmer climates. Jo and Larry were always ready for an adventure and spent their lives nurturing family and friendships.
They finally succumbed to Larry’s wishes to live by the sea in Pensacola Florida, but after surviving two hurricanes in two years decided to take up residence in Branson, MO where they could be closer to family.
Jo’s love of adventure carried into the kitchen and she loved to try new and different types of foods. Jo was a wonderful cook and loved hosting dinners for her family and friends. She loved to read, do crossword puzzles, play Bridge and all sorts of word games. She had unwavering compassion for animals and a innate love of nature. She was an elegant, beautiful woman who loved to laugh and experience every aspect of life. She will be missed.
Jo is survived by her daughter, step daughters and their spouses, three grandchildren and their spouses and one beloved greatgranddaughter.
