Jerry Wayne Grubbs, 62, Springfield, MO passed away Wednesday, February 27, 2013 in his home. He was born March 7, 1950 in Little Rock, AR to Travis and Eloise (Chastain) Grubbs. Jerry was united in marriage to the love of his life, Patricia “Patty” Colson on August 29, 1980 in Springfield, MO, and they were blessed with one son, William Grubbs.
Jerry was a US Navy Veteran and was a member of the Boy Scouts, Eagle Scout Troop #29, Springfield, MO, with Wood Badge Training and Leadership Training.
With a life long affinity for the White River and the outdoors, Jerry and his family enjoyed camping together on its banks and fishing its clear waters. He was an avid fisherman, especially enjoying fishing for trout. He was happiest around the campfire at the end of a good day, surrounded by his wife, Patty, their family and friends.
Having grown up around woodworking, Jerry enjoyed carpentry and cabinet making, eventually becoming an excellent finish carpenter and fine furniture maker.
Jerry loved his family and friends with all of his heart, and was a kind, giving husband, father, grandfather and friend. He will be greatly missed by those that love him.
He is survived by his loving wife “Patty” Grubbs of the home, son William and wife Hannah Grubbs; four grandchildren, Seth, Marshall, Jeremiah and Claudette Grubbs, all of Rogersville, MO, and two nephews, Cory and Chris Colson who also survive.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 – 2:00 PM Monday, March 4, 2013 in Herman Lohmeyer Funeral Home. Graveside services with military honors will follow at 3:00 PM in Danforth Cemetery.
