Jeremy Evan Fields, 53, of Springfield, Missouri, passed away peacefully at home after a long battle with pancreatic cancer on May 11, 2026. Jeremy was a loved son, stepson, grandson, brother, uncle, nephew, and friend, and his presence will be deeply missed.
Jeremy was born in Springfield, Missouri, September 15, 1972, to Brenda G. Friedhofen (nee) Fields. Jeremy was a graduate of Vatterott College and loved computer programming, gaming, and building computers. Jeremy was a Catholic and an avid student of philosophy and religion and was always ready for a lively intellectual discussion on ethics and morality. He worked as a patient advocate for Humana before being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 2022.
Jeremy was preceded in death by his beloved younger brother, Jacob Michael McCann. He is survived by his mother, Brenda Friedhofen (nee) Fields; sisters, Jenifer Rose McCann, Joyce Emily Pona (nee) McCann, and Katherine Brianne Payton (nee) Wilbourn (Kendrick); nephews and niece, Russel Rosener (Rusty), Vincent Pona (Vinnie), Chance Kozicki, and Violet (Vi) Pona; and his stepfathers, Dennis McCann and Andrew Friedhofen, both of whom played significant roles in his life. Andy took Jeremy to every chemotherapy treatment and was a great friend and supporter, always giving of his time.
Jeremy’s wake will be held at Main Event, 17027 North Outer 40 Rd, Chesterfield, Missouri, 63005, Tuesday, June 9, 2026 at 7:00 PM. He will be interned privately at Sacred Heart Cemetery, 900 Graham Rd, Florissant, Missouri.
