In Loving Memory of Jason Lovekamp
March 24, 1973 — December 21st, 2025
Jason Michael Lovekamp, age 52, passed away on Sunday, December 21, 2025. While his journey through life was marked by both great joy and difficult personal battles, we find profound comfort in knowing that he is finally at peace.
Jason was born in Jacksonville, Illinois, on March 24, 1973, to Arla Lovekamp and Mary (Hayes) Lovekamp. He was baptized as an infant at Salem Lutheran Church in Jacksonville and later confirmed his faith at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of 13. A 1991 graduate of Republic High School, Jason went on to dedicate over 20 years of his career to Bumper to Bumper in Springfield, where he developed many lasting friendships.
An outdoorsman from his youth, Jason found tremendous joy in the simple traditions of fishing, hunting, and camping, a passion nurtured throughout his life alongside his family. Jason thrived on competition, whether he was playing baseball, softball or bowling. This competitive nature was most notable on the bowling lanes. A talented bowler, Jason participated in numerous leagues and tournaments, often competing alongside his brother and many cherished friends. His skill earned him several 300- game rings over the years, his first while bowling on a mixed team with his mother, Mary. Jason was a steadfast fan of the Dallas Cowboys, wearing the silver and blue with pride regardless of their record. In addition to his love for the gridiron and the lanes, Jason was a NASCAR enthusiast, a fan of the legendary Dale Earnhardt and Dale Earnhardt Jr.
He is survived by his mother, Mary (Michael) Willis; brother, Bret (Lindsey) Lovekamp and son, Brendan Lovekamp. He was blessed with seven nieces and nephews: Michael Ward, Andrew Murphy-Ward, Laura Murphy, Taylor Ward, Brady Sanders, Brock Lovekamp and Luke Lovekamp. He will be fondly remembered by his many aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends. He was preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Milton and Dorothy Lovekamp; maternal grandparents, Maurice and Oleta Hayes; father, Arla Lovekamp, and his beloved niece, Natalie Murphy-Ward.
Jason will be deeply missed, but we find peace knowing he has reached the ultimate end zone, where the sun is bright, the lanes are clear, and the game is always won.
Service for Jason will be held 10:00am Friday, January 2, 2025 at the Herman H. Lohmeyer Funeral Home. Burial will take place in the Maple Park Cemetery in Springfield, MO.
