Janene Ellen Moser

Janene Moser of Springfield, MO, age 71, died peacefully at home of breast cancer on March 8, 2026, surrounded by family.

Born in Kansas City, MO to Faith and Charles Moser, Janene was the youngest of four siblings. She moved to Springfield, MO in the early 1970s, and married Bob Shaw in 1984.

After working as a counselor in a Division of Youth Services juvenile backpacking program she taught art at Hillcrest High, and then worked with the Doula Foundation.

A talented artist whose watercolor paintings reflect her love of nature, she also enjoyed mosaic work and often invited friends to share the pleasure of making mosaics together.

An avid gardener, her yard always reflected her delight in color and form.

Janene enjoyed traveling, and she and Bob visited much of the Americas and Europe during their 41 years together.

Janene’s off-beat sense of humor, as well as her artistic nature, colored how she lived in the world. A deeply spiritual woman, she attracted many friends over her lifetime.

She is survived by husband, Bob Shaw; sister Janice Moser Long (Tim); sister Joann Noll (Steve); sister-in-law Star Johnsen Moser; sister-in-law Abby Shaw (John Solether) and brother-in-law Peter Shaw (Mari). Her many nieces and nephews will miss her.

Janene touched many lives through her art, spiritual work, and hours nurturing women as a doula. She leaves behind a lasting legacy of love and connection.

Donations in her honor may be made to The Doula Foundation, 1901 E. Meadowmere St, Springfield, 65804.
