Harold Speer

Rev. Harold Speer of Tecumseh, MI has died at the ripe old age of 93 on March 2, 2014 in Ozark MO. He was born in Howard, Kansas on November 23, 1920 to Dewey and Irene (Layer) Speer. He is survived by a daughter, Mary Speer of Tecumseh, and seven grandchildren; Scott Klanke, Dolly (Bill) Steele, Todd Klanke, Buffy (Darren) LaGore, Rev. David (Kristen) Speer II, Kristin (David) Noe and Jonathan Speer. He also is survived by 11 great grandchildren and one great, great grandson. He is survived by a sister, Cleora Justus of KS. He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Opal Speer; his son, Paul Speer, and daughter in law, Aletha Speer.

Rev. Speer graduated from Central Bible Institute in 1943 and began his pastoral ministry at the Assembly of God Church in Tecumseh, MI. After leaving Tecumseh, he pastored churches in Atlanta, MI, Alpena, MI, Coleman, MI, Detroit, MI, Redford, MI, then returned again to Tecumseh, MI. Twelve years later he pioneered a church in Alma, MI.

A private celebration of his life will be held at a later date in Michigan with Rev. David Speer officiating.

Services are under the care of Herman H. Lohmeyer Funeral Home in Springfield, Missouri.
