Gayle Jean Matson

Gayle J Matson, (74), of Springfield, Missouri, passed away on March 29, 2026 at Cox Medical Center South.

Gayle was born in Marshalltown, Iowa, to Richard and Barbara Rudolph. She graduated from Marshalltown High School. Gayle lived the majority of her adult life in Colorado before moving to Florida and eventually Springfield, Missouri.

Gayle was married to Robert Lee Matson.

Gayle was known by many for her hippie, beachy persona and her love of pink flamingos. She enjoyed helping people and volunteering her time. She loved cheering for the Denver Broncos and the Kansas City Chiefs. Gayle was cat mom to Jax and Peach and had a green thumb caring for many plants.

Gayle could strike up a conversation with anyone and will be missed by the many friends she made along her journey through life.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and her cat, Tux.

She is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Keahna; granddaughter Alexandria; and grandson Roman, all of Iowa.
