It is with deep sorrow that we announce the unexpected passing of Douglas Wayne Scholp, age 66, on January 15, 2026 at 5:50 pm. Doug passed away at Mercy Hospital Burn Center in Springfield, Missouri, surrounded by loved ones. He resided in Gainesville, Missouri as well as Evansville, Indiana.

Born on November 24, 1959 in Joliet, Illinois, Douglas Scholp was the cherished son of Betty Lou Price and Earl Wayne Scholp. He graduated from Francis Joseph Reitz High School in Evansville, Indiana class of 1978.

Doug led a life marked by hard work, and dedication. A skilled welder by trade, Doug’s hands helped shape and build the world around him. For many years, he worked proudly at Whirlpool, in Evansville, IN where he was known not only for his craftsmanship but for his work ethic and loyalty. Outside of work, he had a passion for camping, growing his vegetable garden, and working on vehicles.

Doug married Tina Sue Harrington on June 6, 1981 and they had two sons Bradly and Brandon.

He is survived by his children, Bradly Scholp, Brandon (Cejae) Scholp as well as his grandchildren Braeden Scholp, Jaedon Scholp and Raelyn Scholp and a great grandchild. In addition, Doug is survived by his father Earl (Catherine) Scholp and his siblings, Judith (Jack) Tezak, Danny Scholp, Matthew Scholp, Teresa (Raul) Valladolid Sr, David Scholp and many nieces and nephews.

Doug was preceded in death by his mother Betty Lou Price.

Doug will be deeply missed, but his memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew him and were fortunate enough to call him a friend.
