Charles F. Wilson Jr., 84, Springfield, went to his Heavenly home on Sunday March 2, 2014 in Mercy Hospital.
He was born on August 19, 1929 in Springfield, Missouri to Charles Sr. and Clara (Pluckett) Wilson. Charles married Betty Mills on May 27, 1950. He served in the US Air Force for 28 years as a meteorologist. He was a strong, gentle soul who loved gardening, feeding the birds, St. Louis Cardinals’ baseball, listening to Big Band music and traveling. Charles was a member of Schweitzer UMC. He also loved being a member of the Home Builders Sunday school class. He was a wonderful father and a devoted grandfather.
He is survived by the love of his life, Betty Wilson; sons, Bryon Wilson and Mark Wilson, and his wife Brenda; daughter Susan Wilson-Henjum, and her husband Phil; grandchildren, Nick and Christopher Wilson and Alexandra, Kelsey, and Grete Wilson-Henjum; and many other family members and friends.
Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday March 5, 2014 in Herman H. Lohmeyer Funeral Home, 500 E. Walnut St.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday March 6, 2014 in Schweitzer UMC, 2747 E. Sunshine St. Burial with military honors will be in Missouri Veterans Cemetery.
