Charles Robert La Tournous, 64, of Springfield, MO, who spent most of his life in New Jersey, passed away on Friday, April 3rd, 2026.
Born and raised in Kearny, NJ, he was the eldest son of the late Francis La Tournous and Patricia La Tournous (née Roberts). Chuck attended Rutgers University, where he studied English and journalism, passions he pursued both professionally and personally throughout his life. He found his way into the world of marketing where he would spend his career, finding success and acclaim. His greatest professional joy was leaving a legacy of making people feel valued, and to discover and reach their full potential.
Chuck met his wife, Judith (née Way), and they were wed in July of 1991. They welcomed their first child, Nicole Llewelyn (née La Tournous), followed by two sons, Alexander and James. Chuck was a devoted husband and father and could always be counted on to attend or lead Boy Scout trips, school plays, sport meets and games, and anything else his children got themselves involved in.
In what free time he had left, Chuck was a man of many passions. A lifelong musician, Chuck always found a way to keep the music going. He spent many years playing his bass, singing in wedding bands, and playing in the Macworld All-Star Band with other Mac enthusiasts whom he called brothers. He was an incredible writer, penning works from tech articles to marketing blogs to children’s books. He tried every new piece of tech he could get his hands on. He loved traveling and camping and hiking.
As a member of the Catholic faith, he shared his time and talents as a lector, Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion, and choir member, and never hesitated to help when asked. He most recently was a parishioner at Holy Trinity Catholic Church.
More than any of these passions, he loved his children and his grandchildren (and they adored him). His eldest granddaughter describes him as “cool and silly and he loves me.” Most of all, Chuck loved his wife, Judy. Life with her, as he would say, was his best adventure.
Chuck is survived by his wife Judy, his children Nicole & husband, Taylor Llewellyn, of Duluth, GA and their three children, Raegan, Wyatt, and Eloise; Alex La Tournous of Philadelphia, PA; and James La Tournous of Springfield, MO. His brother Allen La Tournous & wife Ana, sister Suzanne & husband, Brian Donohue, all in NJ. And many nieces & nephews who all meant the world to him.
Chuck will long be remembered for his kindness, his humor, his passion for life, and his deep love for family and those around him. He is and will always be missed more than we know how to say.
A memorial Mass will be held Friday, April 10th, 10:30 am at Holy Trinity Catholic Church: 2818 E. Bennett St., Springfield, MO. Charles will be laid to rest in Georgia close to family.
In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to either Lifehouse of Catholic Charities or Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Chuck's memory.
