Carolyn Lee English, 85, Springfield, died on April 8, 2026, in Cox Hospital Hospice after a sudden illness.
She was born on January 7, 1941, in Craig, Missouri at home and delivered by her own grandfather, a long-time general practitioner in northwest Missouri. After graduating from Craig High School, Carolyn attended college in Maryville, Missouri and later at SMSU (now MSU) in Springfield, Missouri where she graduated with a BS in Elementary Education and met her husband Patrick Joey English who was a fellow student and football player. Carolyn loved learning and earned her Master's degree and Specialist degrees in Education. She taught for many years in Missouri at Niangua, Cuba, Elsberry, and Kansas City Public Schools. Carolyn's hobbies included Bridge and travel.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, Loren Guy and Marjory (Paul) Wickiser, and husband, Patrick Joey English. She is survived by her children, Sydney Joan English and Michael Patrick English and grandchild, Katherine Rose English.
If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the American Red Cross or Ozark Public Television, or any organization benefitting needy families especially women and children or Veterans or dogs or promoting reading and literacy. During Carolyn's lifetime, she supported all of the above.
Private interment services were held at Missouri Veterans Cemetery Springfield, Missouri.
