Bobby J. Muse, 50 years old, of Springfield, MO, passed away at 9:10 p.m., on Tuesday, the 27th of October, in his home in Springfield, MO.
Bobby was born March 5th, 1976, to Sandy Pilmore and Jerry Muse. He attended Fairbanks Elementary School for his kindergarten school year. He then attended and graduated from Greene Valley Stare School, in Springfield, MO in 1997. Sandy has been his guardian all his life.
Bobby learned Employment and Safety Skills at DCO Workshop. He then obtained a job shredding paper at DCO Workshop. He then went on to do voluntary community integration through a church in Springfield where he helped clean their pews. He then went on to deliver meals through Meals on Wheels to elderly or severely handicapped individuals. One of his clients on Meals on Wheels was his grandmother, who he enjoyed visiting with when he delivered her meals. Bobby never showed any interest in learning Safety Signs.
Bobby enjoyed going out to eat at his favorite restaurants, but he did not mind being taken to other restaurants, as he loved to eat. His staff always tried taking Bobby out to eat at least once a week. His family would pick him up to go out to eat as well as go visit family members. Bobby loved taking walks in the parks and on trails around Springfield. He liked animals and would often be taken to the Dickerson Park Zoo, Animal Safari, Rutledge-Wilson Farm, Nathaniel Green Park and Butterfly House, and Wonders of Wildlife Aquarium. Bobby enjoyed learning baseball through the Special Olympics Miracle League for the Cardinals, as well as learning crafts and taking cooking classes through ARC of the Ozarks.
Bobby lived under the daily care of Ebenezer Group Home staff for 1 year, with several roommates with mixed diagnoses. This was not a good fit for Bobby, so he was moved to an Independent Supported Living (ISL) home with 1-2 roommates, to share expenses, under the daily care of Nova Center of the Ozarks. Following a stroke, Bobby went to a crisis unit in Polar Bluff, MO for rehabilitation treatment for almost a year. After he recovered, he moved into a single ISL, under the care of ARC of the Ozarks, in Springfield, MO. Bobby did not have any roommates at this home, as part of his after-care plan. He then moved to his final home in SW Springfield, MO under the direct daily care of ARC of the Ozarks staff.
Bobby was preceded in death by his father, Jerry Muse; grandparents; several uncles & aunts; and a few cousins.
Bobby is survived by his grandmothers, Mary and Linda; mother, Sandy and step-dad, Doug; sister, Donna; brother, Rusty; nephews, Andrew, Austin, and Aden; nieces, Emrey & Paisley; several aunts; uncles; cousins; and many loving and caring friends and caretakers.
A Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 7th, 2026, at Herman H. Lohmeyer Funeral Home with the funeral service following at 4:00 p.m. Anyone wanting to tell a story they have about Bobby, feel free to do so at the funeral services. The family would love to hear them.
