Obituary for Wesley Grant Speake

Wesley Grant Speake, 67, died at home on Thursday, April 21, 2022.He was born October 9, 1954 in Ava, Mo to James Edward and Delores Marie (King) Speake.

He proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1972 until 1981. He used his VA benefits to earn a degree in Air Conditioning and Refrigeration, and was the owner of Speake Refrigeration & HVAC.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Evelyn, infant daughter Renee, and two infant grandchildren, Cheyenne and Christopher Speake.

He was a devoted husband to his wife, Jean, and the giving and caring father of Isreal Speake, Stephanie Sigman (Larry), and his bonus children, Anthony Farris (Sara) and Jessica Wagner (Tyson). He was the proud grandfather of Taylor DeMoss (Ethan), Briana McAllister, Ashtyn Speake, Aryana Sigman, and Cole Wagner, and great grandfather of Jax Demoss, Alrik Johnson and Ellie Osborne. His four siblings always had each other's backs: Debbie Ankiewicz (Tom), Mark Speake, Melody Bloxsom (David),and Eric Speake (Penny). He enjoyed watching his many nieces and nephews grow up and having families of their own, and had a multitude of friends that he considered extended family.

Graveside services with full military honors will be Friday, April 29, 2022 at 11 a.m. at Missouri Veterans Cemetery, 5201 S. Southwood Road, Springfield, MO. Wesley loved nothing more than a good party and good stories. A gathering for friends and family immediately following the service will be at Speake Refrigeration & HVAC, 611 N. Washington Ave., Springfield. Wear something colorful and bring your best Wesley tales!

Wesley was a Lifetime Member of the Disabled American Veterans, and former treasurer of Chapter 11. Memorial donations may be made to Disabled American Veterans, Chapter 11, 2525 E. Division St., Springfield, MO, 65803.
