Obituary for Timothy Carl Riecke

Timothy Carl Riecke, 63, of Springfield, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, October 11, 2023. He fought the good fight until his body no longer could. We will all miss him and his many stories.

Tim’s Missouri Memorial services will be 3:00PM, Wednesday, Oct.25, 2023 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church Day Chapel, 2200 W. Republic Rd., Springfield, MO 65807.

Afterwards, he will go to Delaware for a service (details pending) and his final resting place will be at the Sussex County Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Millsboro, Delaware.

Tim was born November 30, 1959 in Greenville, Mississippi to the late Yvonne (Cox) and the late Conrad C. Riecke. Tim, being an Air Force “brat,” traveled to various places throughout his school years including Japan, Texas, and Germany to name a few. He later served in the USAF and was a proud veteran.

Tim naturally offered to help others whenever he saw a need and was very artistic and creative and could build or fix almost anything. He beautifully refurbished old furniture and gave many houses, rooms, and items a new look with a fresh coat of paint. Tim was also known for sharing food, housing, or whatever little he had with anyone he saw in need, and even offered the shirt off his back. He enjoyed cooking, and was pretty good at it, too. Most of all, he loved his family and his D.O.G.

Tim is survived by his son, Derek Riecke, of North Haven, Maine; his daughter, Devon (and Jonathan) Young and grandson, Grayson of Milford, Delaware; his stepmom, Carolyn; three sisters, Susan (and Barry) Austin of Springfield, Missouri, Teresa (and Larry) Petersen of Burkburnett, Texas, and Sara (and Michael) Haxton of Dover, Delaware; plus many nieces, nephews, and loved ones.
