Wallis, Theresia with great sadness and love the family of Theresia Wallis known as Tante Resel to her family announces her gentle passing on Thursday July 16 the age of 93, with rosary in hand.

Predeceased by her loving husband Waverly and sisters Elizabeth, Maria, Emilia and brother Karl. Survived by her brother Heinrich and sister Helena.

Tante Resel will also be greatly missed by other relatives and friends. Fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews.

Her kind-heartedness, sharp wit and wisdom were always present. She fought with quite strength like she lived her life, always thinking about others over herself. Theresia was a member of the Immaculate Conception Parish of Springfield Missouri. She was also a member of the church’s Adult Choir and an active member of the German AustrianSwiss Heritage Society of the Ozarks.

She enjoyed providing the church with her hand knitted and crocheted baby clothing to help single and unwed mothers. She also graciously provided new choir robes for the parish in Springfield Missouri.

She would work side-by-side with her husband Waverly in Heber Springs Arkansas on a small farm tending to the cattle and other farm chores while also being the sole proprietor of her own shop called The Yarn Nook.

After Waverly’s passing, she moved to Mountain Home Arkansas. Her dear friends John and Linda and Veronica were there for her. She attended Saint Peters the Fisherman Catholic Church and sang in the choir.

Longtime friends Roswitha and her husband from Little Rock, who served with Waverly in the military, and Elaine and husband were very important to her.

Tante Resel would always instigate, organize and sponsor many family reunions in Germany and in Canada. Other events she would host would be Tea parties for her dear friends in Springfield Missouri. They would all enjoy her traditional German treats such as stolen, spritz cookies, apple cheese torte etc. which she thoroughly enjoyed making for them.

Our family would like to express our heartfelt gratitude and thanks to many of Tante Resel’s dear friends in Springfield who were always there for her. Vera-longtime neighbour, Jennifer, Clarice, Manuela, Joanne, Donna, Diane, Peggy, Jerry and Kathy. All who were very dear and important to her.

Tante Resel was laid to rest in Arkansas State Veteran County North Little Rock on Tuesday, July 21, 2020. She will be reunited with her husband Waverly and other family members that have gone before her.

Love to our great aunt Theresia Wallis, lived in her own home and drove a Cadillac till the end, the gold standard❤

Theresia friendship was a gift that I treasured. We enjoyed many conversations together over a cup of her spiced tea. Theresia ‘s life story was an inspiration growing up in Germany during World War II and then following her husband , a US soldier, to the United States as a young woman. Theresia always had a project going. She was either planning a trip or attending a local concert or making beautiful handcrafted items. Even though she enjoyed many activities, Theresia always had time to visit. I miss this sweet and special woman.
