Obituary for Stephen Leek Floyd Sr.

Stephen L. “Steve” Floyd Sr.

Steve joined his lovely wife Kathleen in Heaven on Sunday, January 14th, 2024 at the age of 104.

Steve was born in Camden, New Jersey on October 12th, 1919.

He was inducted into the U.S. Army Air Corp. in January of 1943. He served as a waist gunner on a B-17. The crew had to bail out over Germany on May 27th, 1944. Steve was captured and was a prisoner of war for eleven months. He was liberated on April 29th, 1945. When he returned to the states, he spent over two years in Army hospitals. He was discharged from the service on August 7th, 1947.

He enrolled in Temple University & graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree.

Steve worked with Dun & Bradstreet, serving as District Manager in Memphis, Kansas City & Milwaukee.

Retiring in 1982, he & Kay moved to Sun City West, Arizona where they spent 24 years.

They moved to Springfield, Missouri in 2004.

Steve is survived by his grandson Stephen L Floyd Ill, granddaughter Yvette Tennant, great grandson Shane Tennant &
wife Holly, daughter-in-law Roberta Floyd, and many nieces and nephews in New Jersey.

Steve was preceded in death by his lovely wife of 62 years Kathleen, son Stephen Floyd Jr., brother Raymond Floyd and sister Grace Tighe.

A Graveside Service will be held at a later date (when it's warmer) at Missouri Veterans Cemetery: 5201 South Southwood Road, Springfield Missouri 65804, with Full Military Honors. Please check back for date and time.
