Obituary for Shirley Jack Creed (Willey)

Shirley Jack (Willey) Creed was born July 14, 1936, to William (Bernard) Willey and Laffa Jack Mitchell on a farm in Polk County. She was finally released from her struggle with dementia and pain on Sunday, May 22, when her Heavenly Father called her to her eternal home. Shirley grew up on an 80 acre farm and graduated from Dadeville High School. In December 1954 she was joined in marriage to Donald L. Creed. To this union four children were born—Nancy, Nadyne, Dennis and Danny.

Shirley was an excellent seamstress and made most of the clothes for the girls growing up. She worked many hours sewing late in the night after everyone else was in bed, sometimes after working all day. She also worked hard at gardening and canning so her family would have food to eat. Her flower gardens were beautiful. She was an excellent cook and made the best hot rolls. Her grandkids have very fond memories of her cheeseburgers, fried taters and macaroni and cheese. Her grandkids called her Grammy, and they had no doubt how very much she loved them all.

She worked at Dillons, the Colonial day old bakery and retired after 15 plus years at Walmart. She later married Jerome (Jerry) Kutz. They enjoyed traveling in his RV together.

She was saved and baptized at Eudora Baptist Church and later attended First Baptist Church in Willard.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Wanda Dunn, and a grandson, Donald W. Grote.

She is survived by her children—Nancy (Gary) Hall, Willard, MO; Nadyne (Kenny) Robberson, Everton, MO; Dennis (Donna) Creed, Willard, MO; and Danny (Trish) Creed, Ponca City, OK. Her grandchildren are—Chris (Jennifer) Grote, Ansel (Sara) Grote, Ben (Sara) Grote; Brad (Amanda) Hall, Heather (Matt) Bechtel; Yvonne (Nathan) Biggs, Laura (Christian) Bergman, Harley Creed, Logan Creed; Jennifer Creed and Katy Creed. She was also blessed by 16 great grandkids. Also surviving is her sister, Sharon Shank.

A Celebration of Life service will be Saturday, May 28, at 11:00 at Eudora Baptist Church at the intersection of Hwy 123 and 215, north of Walnut Grove with Pastor Kevin Marcum officiating. Visitation will begin at 10:00 at EBC. Burial will follow at the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, near the church under the care of Herman H. Lohmeyer Funeral Home .

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Eudora Baptist Church’s Building Fund.
