Obituary for Robert O. "Bob" Jahnke

Robert “Bob” O. Jahnke, 85, Springfield, Missouri, passed away on Wednesday, October 18, 2023 at Mercy Hospital. He was born on April 11, 1938 in Chicago, Illinois to Otto and Katherine Jahnke. As an adult, he became a commercial photographer before he was drafted into the Korean War as a Military Police Officer for the Army. After his service, he returned to Chicago and continued his career as a photographer. He met his wife Ginny, on a blind date in Maywood, Illinois who he was married to for over half a century.

Bob loved the outdoors including fishing, hiking, and traveling but his greatest joy came from spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He never missed a school or sporting activity. His passion for photography continued throughout his life by documenting each family occasion, including every holiday.

He is survived by his loving wife Ginny; his four children, James, Bobby (wife Shana), Anmarie (husband Steve), Cindy (husband Steve); three grandchildren, Elizabeth (husband David), Christopher (fiancée Grace), and Lindsey; two great grandchildren, Bella and Landon. He is also survived by his two sisters Rosemary and Kathy (husband Gary).

A Memorial Mass will be at 10am Saturday, October 21, 2023 at St. Agnes Cathedral: 533 S. Jefferson, Springfield Missouri 65806, with Father Lewis Hejna as celebrant. Immediately following, the burial will be at Resurrection Cemetery: 4677 W. Divison Street, Springfield Missouri.
