His decorations include Army Occupation Medal, Korean Service Medal with one Bronze Service Star, Combat Infantry Badge and United Nations Service Medal.

Bob married M. Jean Altom on May 2, 1952 in Coffeyville Kansas where they resided until moving to Springfield Missouri in 1972. She preceded him in death on Oct 8, 2008. I also have such fond memories of Uncle Bob and our summer visits in Coffeyville with the family. He truly was one of my favorite uncles! I remember when he and our dad competed in a water balloon throwing game with me and my siblings....from the second floor of Grandma’s house! Needless to say Grandma & Aunt Louise did not approve of our activities so Dad and Uncle Bob received the same lecture that we did. Uncle Bob always had a great sense of humor, was a lot of fun, liked to tease but also let us tease him back...He was a great storyteller as well. He had a way of drawing out a funny story. Just a lovely man!

I love the picture posted of Uncle Bob. He was always such fun to be around! He had such a positive spirit, good stories, and was a gentle teaser too. My Dad and Mom always looked forward to visiting him and his lovely wife, Aunt Jean. I knew he served in Korea, but did not know how how decorated he was. How fortunate that he had Julie supervising his care in his declining years. I know that Bobbie and his family were always there to provide support when he still lived in Springfield as well. It is sad to know the last of his generation of the family has now left us--but am glad that he enjoyed such a long life. He will be missed and I send my sincerest condolences to all his loved ones as you mourn his passing and celebrate his life.

Thank you for your kind words, Susan. We too are sad that the last of that Harrington generation is gone. What a wonderful family and great memories of the house at 801 Lincoln! Julie
