Obituary for Robert Eugene Chambers
Robert (Bob, Bobby, Daddy, Poppy, Coach) Eugene Chambers, 67, of Nixa, Missouri, met his Lord and Savior face-to-face at 6:30 am on December 16, 2021.
Born May 13, 1954 in Kansas City, Missouri, to William Homer and Maxine Aloha (Drake) Chambers, he was a striking and formidable young man, attending high school in Windsor, Missouri, where he was a standout for his football team.
He married the love-of-his-life, Tamaya (Tammy) Suzanne Stringfellow, on November 18, 1978. Together, Bob & Tammy, founded Lighthouse Christian Academy in January of 1994. This was the realization of a lifelong passion – of teaching, loving, accepting, and healing. Together, they taught classes, and improved the lives of countless youth.
Bob retired from KOLR -10 in September of 2018. In keeping with his love of football, he coached the Lighthouse Christian Chargers junior high team for 7 years.
He enjoyed Chiefs’ football, Chargers’ football, traveling with his wife, puzzles, and … above all, he loved “BIG” his children and grandchildren.
But at the end of the day, he loved his Lord most of all. He was dutifully and lovingly involved in countless ministries, and was beloved beyond description, by his family and his extended community.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, John D. Chambers.
He is survived by his wife, Tammy Chambers; his children, Brittany & Brett Curry, Adam & Erin Chambers, Bethany & Jacob Webster, and Austin Chambers; grandchildren, Nathan, Emma, Evelyn, Landon, Molly, Storri, Maggie, Sophia, Beau, Sydney, Benjamin, and Ransom; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Calvary Baptist Church, 804 US Hwy 60 West, Republic, Missouri on Sunday, December 19th, at 4:00 pm. Pastor Randy Copeland will officiate under the care of Herman H. Lohmeyer Funeral home, 500 E. Walnut St, Springfield, Missouri.
