Obituary for Rebecca Jo "Becky" Baum

Rebecca Jo Baum, Ozark, MO. 54 years old. Born July 18th 1967 to Harold Raymond Baum and Shirley Evelyn Baum passed away May 3rd 2022.

She was preceded in death by her father, Harold Baum. Left to cherish her memory: her mother, Shirley Baum of Ozark, sisters Mary [Jim] Jackson of Springfield, Pat [Mike] Whisler of Willard, Ann Vunovic of Springfield, brother Matt [Terra] Baum of Springfield. She had 3 nieces, 4 nephews, 6 great-nieces, 2 great-nephews, and numerous aunts, cousins, and close friends who were like family.

Becky was a sweet and loving soul who carried her burdens with grace. Her bright and cheery nature brought joy to all who knew her. She delighted in visiting with friends and family and genuinely cared for all she spoke with. She would greet everyone warmly, many times squealing with glee at their arrival, before inquiring about their loved ones and pets and eagerly declaring that she loved them SO much. When she did talk about what was new with her, often a meal she had really enjoyed or something which happened “just yesterday morning”, it was with a child-like enthusiasm which was captivating. She would most often be found sipping her coffee or soda pop while watching Gunsmoke or the Golden Girls in her room which was adorned with all the things she loved most: the Kansas City Chiefs, the St. Louis Cardinals, Mickey and Minnie Mouse, and, of course, photos of her family and beloved pets, including her favorite dog, River. Her light shone brightly and warmed our hearts; it will be forever missed by her family, caregivers, and parish family.

The family would like to extend special thanks and recognize her care team at James River Nursing and Rehabilitation, Wagner Van Services, and Phoenix Home Healthcare. The loving care, compassion, and dignity they provided Becky in her final years and days endeared them to us all and truly made them an extension of our family.
