Obituary for Phillip M. Snodgrass

Phillip Mark Snodgrass, age 59 of Springfield, Missouri passed away on Wednesday, February 26, 2020 at Springfield Rehabilitation.

Phil was born on January 4, 1961in Kentucky where his father was stationed with the Army. He grew up in Missouri and at the age of 32 moved to Springfield when his father married Elvina Haney. On the day of that marriage, Phil hit the jackpot as he gained a Mom and a ready-made family of a brother and two sisters and a large extended family. Phil and his new Mom loved to play games of any type, camp and go to Branson shows. Even though Phil lived with a life-long disability he was a master game player of bingo, dominoes and any type of board game. He loved movies and video games. He attended Pathways Church and was supported by a wonderful Sunday School Class that remembered him even when he could no longer be with them on Sundays. The last few years he lived at Springfield Rehabilitation and was lovingly cared for by all the staff.

He was preceded in death by his father Melvin Snodgrass and his mother Ruth Snodgrass as well as a sister. He is survived by his second Mom, Elvina Haney and his brother, David and two sisters Carla and Vicki.

A memorial service led by Rev. Mike Blacksher will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday February 29, 2020 in Pathways Church 1232 E. Dale Street, Springfield, MO. The family request the omission of flowers but any memorial contributions be directed to Hospice Compassus at 1465 E. Primrose St. Springfield, MO or Pathways Church Springfield, MO.

We are rejoicing today because we know that Phil is riding a bike, kicking a football and all the many things he couldn’t do in this life. Phil, enjoy your wings!
