Obituary for Pauline Fuelts

Pauline Fuelts passed away on Wednesday, December 30, 2020, after a brief hospitalization due to stroke.

She was born on February 19, 1944, in the small village of Hochweis in Czechoslovakia. Today we know it as Vel’ke’ Pole, Slovakia.

She emigrated to America when she was eight with her parents and her sister, aged 13. They ended up settling in Chicago, Illinois, where Pauline met Stephan, an immigrant from Hungary. They married in the fall of 1966 and started a family amidst a vibrant community that included many lifelong friends.

In 1977, they moved to a farm in Southwest Missouri, where these then city mice began the transition to country mice. They were married 54 years.

Pauline always placed a high value on family and friends who became family.

She dedicated the majority of her career to Webster Co. in Springfield, MO.

We, her family, friends, and community, appreciate her fiery yet graceful personality; her artistic cooking skills; and magical abilities with gardening and plants.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Leopold and Magdalena Schmetzko, and extended family and friends throughout the world.

She is survived by her husband, Stephan Fuelts; son, Eric Fuelts; daughter, Andrea Fuelts; daughter-in-law, Candi Fuelts; granddaughter Ally Fuelts; and sister, Charlotte Haas and her family.

If desired, memorial contributions can be made to any organization that helps children.
