Obituary for Paula Louise Howard (Baron)

Paula Louise (Baron) Howard of Springfield died Monday, May 27, 2019, at 6:00 a.m.

She was born December 4, 1931 in Springfield, MO to Paul & Marion (Brittian) Baron. She attended and graduated from St. Agnes Catholic School in Springfield and also St. John’s School of Nursing. It was in her nursing career that she met her true love, Charles Howard. They were married on June 11, 1953, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Springfield, MO. Paula’s Catholic faith was always important to her and through this she passed her faith on to their eight children and to her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Through the course of her life, Paula would not only be a nurse, but also was a dairy farmer’s wife and stood alongside her husband helping him in all aspects that she could. When they retired from the farm life in Willard and moved back to Springfield, both Paula and Charles opened a music shop called “Podners” where they spent a few years selling country music instruments.

After the death of her husband from nearly fifty years of marriage, Paula was able to spend more time at her “home away from home”, St. Joseph Catholic Church. She was involved in many committees, prayer groups, and volunteered faithfully every week for a holy hour at the Adoration Chapel. I think aside from her biological family this faith family was her favorite thing to be part of through the week.

The survivors are: children w/ spouses or significant others: Becky Schonert & Angel Ramos (Dallas, Texas); John & Renee Howard (Springfield, MO); Marcia Howard (Republic, MO); Tery Howard & Gary Wyland (Republic, MO); Susan Howard (Rogersville, MO); Paul & Valerie Howard (Columbia, MO); Dana Howard (Fort Wayne, IN); Mary & Shawn Rowley (Halfway, MO).
