Obituary for Nathan "Big Butch" Armstrong, Sr.

Mr. Nathan “Big Butch” Armstrong, Sr., 75, passed away September 19th, 2019 at his home in Springfield, Missouri after battling an illness.

Mr. Armstrong was born July 12, 1944 in Springfield, Missouri to Richard and Katherine Small. He attended Lincoln High School in Springfield before moving to Los Angeles, California where he was a business owner for 20 plus years in the trucking industry. Once his health began to decline, he relocated back to Springfield to be closer to his family and friends.

Mr. Armstrong was preceded in death by his father, Richard Lee Small, Sr.; mother, Katherine Small; sisters, Betty Green, Cecilia Small, and Iona Williamson; and two brother, Lee Small and Richard Lee, Jr.

“Big Butch” is survived by his children, Lynette Armstrong of Kansas City, Missouri, Nathan Armstrong and his wife Kay of Kansas City, Missouri, Carlos "Tony" Armstrong and his wife Eva of San Antonio, Texas and Lanisha “Snoopy” Armstrong and her significant other, Lailani Jennings of Compton, California; his sister, Shirley Triplett and her husband Tony of Carthage, Missouri; two brothers, Johnny Small of Springfield, Missouri and Bobby Small of California; 13 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren; nephew, Fred “Champagne” Williamson of Springfield and a host of other nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 - 7:00 pm Thursday evening, September 26, 2019 at Herman H. Lohmeyer Funeral Home, 500 E. Walnut Street, Springfield, Missouri.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am Friday, September 27, 2019 at the Herman H. Lohmeyer Funeral Home with burial to follow at Hazelwood Cemetery in Springfield, Missouri.

A Repass will take place following the graveside service at Silver Springs New Hope Full Gospel, 1119 N. National, Springfield, Missouri 65802.
