Obituary for Monica J. Shields (Malady)
Monica Jill Malady Shields passed away at 8:30 pm Saturday, August 19th, 2023, in her home.
She was born in Springfield, Missouri on November 14th, 1955. She attended school in Pheonix, Arizona, and later graduated from Draughon Business College in Springfield, Missouri with a degree in Data Processing.
Monica worked for Strout Reality, Manpower Temporary Services, Springfield Better Business Bureau, and the Springfield Park Board.
She enjoyed reading, always learning, and gaming on the computer. She made many new friends along the way.
Monica was proceeded in death by her parents, Ralph & Marilynn Malady; two sisters, Melissa Malady Tarango, Melinda Malady White; her grandparents, William & Eleanor White and Vernon & Josephine Malady, and many aunts and uncles.
She is survived by two nephews, Martin Shawn Tarango and Herbert Alan Waterman; one niece, Megan Eleanor Waterman, and many cousins and friends.
No funeral services are planned.
LIBERATION
When all of those you love who’ve gone before
Are waiting just beyond the open gate,
You near the portal with a trace of fear
Which vanishes as you anticipate
The shedding of the weight of earthly cares.
You know that now you’re where you need to be.
I will not say, “Goodbye, farewell forever.”
I’ll whisper to myself, “At last you’re free.”
