Obituary for Michael Patrick O'Shea

Michael Patrick “Mike” O’Shea, 75, passed away on Tuesday, February 6, 2024, in Springfield, Missouri, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Mike was born on November 14, 1948, in Kansas City, Kansas, to Maurice Vern O’Shea and Carol Berry O’Shea. He was the great-grandson of William O’Shea and Mary Ann Lonergan O’Shea, Irish immigrants and original pioneer settlers of Blaine, Kansas.

Mike grew up in Overland Park, Kansas. After graduating from Bishop Miege High School in 1966, he enlisted and served in the US Navy during the turmoil of the Vietnam War.

Mike was intelligent, creative, and witty; he had a life-long interest in American history and enjoyed working in community theatre, where his deep voice was an asset. He was also a talented chef and saucier who enjoyed creative cooking, especially for friends and loved ones.

Graveside services, with full military honors, were held on Friday, April 5, 2024, at the Missouri State Veteran’s Cemetery in Springfield. Members of the Warriors' Watch Riders of Springfield honored Mike by escorting his ashes to the graveside service and his friends from the DAV also honored him by attending.

Rest easy, Mike; you are remembered with love.
