Obituary for Matthew Robert Douglass
Matthew Douglass was taken from us suddenly on February 27, 2023. He was born on June 18, 1982 in Santa Rosa, California. Matthew and his family moved to the Springfield area in 1989.
He graduated from Everton High School in 2001. In 2005, he received his Associates Degree at the Colorado Gunsmithing School. Matthew answered the call of the Army in 2010 and was medically discharged in 2012. Finally, in 2022, he was working towards his Degree for Medical Assistance with Wellspring College when health issues sidetracked him.
His hobbies were being in the out of doors and knife making. He enjoyed being with his extended family and friends and enjoying life to the fullest with his new bride..
Matthew married the love of his life and soulmate, Jennifer, on October 8, 2022.
Matthew is survived by his parents, Paul and Marilyn, his sister Kathleen Shaffer and her husband Kyle, nephew Quentin, nieces Ariana and Lily, all of Everton, his daughter Mackayla Hilton and her husband Dillon, and granddaughter Aurora of Springfield.
We will all miss his love, his life, and his crazy but fun personality. He made all around him laugh and look at the silly side of life.
A visitation will be held for Matthew on Saturday March 4th, from 2:00pm until 4:00pm at Herman H. Lohmeyer Funeral Home. Located at 500 E. Walnut Street in downtown Springfield.
