Obituary for Scott Avery

Matthew (Scott) Avery, age 63 passed away in the early hours of Tuesday, September 29th, 2020 at his home in Springfield, Missouri.

He was born June 27th to Larry Avery and Virginia (Ginger) Childress. He graduated Field Kindley High School in 1975 in Coffeyville, Kansas and Ozarks Technical Community College in 2011. He married Sherry Shipman on September 21st, 1991.

Scott worked as the bookstore manager at OTC and Evangel University Bookstores, Sales Representative and was an active musician in the Springfield area. He played for several years in the Coffeyville and Pittsburg, Kansas area before moving to Springfield in 1991. He enjoyed performing for crowds, practicing with his fellow musicians, and watching football. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his father, Larry Avery; his daughter, Katie Knaup, and is brother-in-law, Calvin Pollet.

He is survived by his wife, Sherry Avery; His Children Autumn and Nate Manweiler, Austin and Jenn Avery, Dylan Avery and Jennifer Shepherd, Haleigh Avery; Justin and Victoria Knaup, Matthew Knaup and 8 grandchildren; his siblings Elaine Pollet, Mark and Kathy Avery.

A Memorial Visitation will be held from 2:00-4:00 pm on Saturday, October 3rd, 2020 at Herman H. Lohmeyer Funeral Home: 500 E. Walnut Street Springfield, MO 65806.
