Obituary for Mary E. Roetto Verburgt

Mary Elizabeth Roetto Verburgt, of Springfield Missouri, went to be with the Lord on July 31st, 2019.

Mary was born in McDonald County, Missouri on June 17th, 1951 to Bertha Jane (née Mustain) and Phillip Edwin Abercrombie.

She graduated from Hollister High school in 1969 and then went on to receive her bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Southwest Missouri State University.

Mary worked many years as an adjudicator for the Division of Family Services and the Department of Disability Determination.

Mary was a beloved daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She was adored by all! Mary loved spending time with her six granddaughters and was a constant presence and support in their lives. Her influence and love will remain with the girls until they are all together again. She also loved spending time at the beach and especially enjoyed visiting her brother at his home in Naples, Florida. Mary enjoyed incredible support from her dear friends whom she considered family. We hope you are all blessed enough to hear some of their lively stories.

Mary is survived by her son, Thomas Roetto (Amy) of St. Joseph Mo; Daughter Kristie Oh - (Han) of Cape Girardeau Mo; six granddaughters, Emelia (husband Michael), Katherine, Allison, Natalie, Mollie, Sophia; one great granddaughter, and namesake, Marielle Bloom; her brothers, Bill Abercrombie, Phillip Abercrombie; and one sister, Lisa Price; many nephews and nieces whom she loved dearly.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Roetto on August 10th 1999. She then married David Verburgt who passed away in 2015; her father Phillip Edwin Abercrombie; Mother Bertha Jane Abercrombie née Mustain; her beloved sister Delcie Louise Holcomb; and dear niece, Kimberly Abercrombie.

A visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 pm Monday, August 5, 2019 at Herman H. Lohmeyer Funeral Home, 500 E. Walnut Street, Springfield, Missouri where a Scripture Service will be held at 7:00 pm.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am Tuesday, August 6, 2019 at St. Agnes Cathedral with Father Tom Kiefer officiating. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Springfield, Missouri.
