Obituary for Mary Anis McKenna

With great sadness and a heavy heart, we say goodbye to Mary Anis Shayhan McKenna. Mary was born on September 17th, 1930, and passed away on Friday, June 4th, 2021.

Mary was a loving mother, wife, aunt, sister, and daughter. She was a very caring person in her profession and with her family. Mary had a long, loving marriage to William McKenna for 58 years and was a wonderful mother to her sons, Perry Lee and Robert Allen.

Mary cared for others most her life as she dealt with her own personal diabetes diagnosis. Mary nursed many family members while they were sick and as they came to the end of their lives. She also worked as a nurse assistant providing care for newborns for 20 years.

Mary enjoyed her dogs and will be buried with the ashes of her faithful companion Bud. She looked after her nieces and nephews and often had them over for sleepovers. Mary was always accepting of everyone and made those around her comfortable without effort. Mary always gave the most unique Christmas and birthday gifts which are still loved today. She enjoyed shopping, watching TV, sneaking a piece of cake, having a diet Coke, and spending time with family.

Mary is preceded in death by her loving husband, William "Bill" McKenna; son, Perry Lee McKenna; sisters, Dorothy, Francis, Mildred, Yvonne, and Paulette; brothers, Lloyd "Red", Bill, and Franklin D.; mother, Mary Catherine Layden Shayhan; father, Lloyd Houston Shayhan; as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Mary is survived by her son, Robert Allen McKenna; many nieces and nephews; along with many great nieces and nephews.

Mary was the last of 9 siblings to pass away and will be very missed. If anyone wants to truly honor and remember Mary, treating others with kindness and respect, people and animals alike, would be what she would have most wanted.
