Obituary for Mary Lyn Holtmann

Mary Lyn Holtmann was born June 15, 1963 and passed away June 24, 2023. She was the
daughter of Jack Holtmann and Ginny Smithberg. She had 3 siblings John (wife Anne), David
(wife Molly), and Beth (husband Larry). Lyn had a 17-year-old daughter, Madelyn, and 9 nieces
and nephews whom she loved.

Lyn attended St. Agnes Cathedral and grade school in Springfield, Missouri growing up. Lyn
always enjoyed a challenge. She was very smart, athletic, and highly motivated to achieve great
things. She loved just about every sport, but her favorite activities were tennis, basketball, and
track in high school. Her senior year at Parkview High School she qualified for state in all 3
sports, was awarded Athletic Hall of Fame, and was crowned homecoming queen.

Lyn continued her pursuit of a good education at Rockhurst College in KC where she earned a
degree in accounting and became a certified public accountant. Her academic success turned
into advancement in the workplace over the years at Coopers and Lybrand, Sprint, Houlihan’s,
and Dairy Farmers of America. Her love for the lake eventually landed her in Shell Knob, MO at
Table Rock Lake where she developed close friendships with neighbors and people in the area.
She volunteered at Haven of the Ozarks for many years making wonderful friends and loving all
the homeless dogs that came through the shelter.

Lyn valued her relationship with God, her family, her friends, and her dogs. Lyn loved spending
time at the lake with family and was the “marathon water skier.” Lyn was always willing to jump
in the water to help someone learn how to water ski. On multiple occasions she ordered
wooden grandfather clock kits that came in the mail made up of a “million” pieces and stayed
up multiple nights in row to put them together. She gave them as gifts to family members as an
expression of love.

Lyn was a loving, compassionate, faithful, intelligent, generous, family, and dog loving person. I
believe she really wanted to be the best daughter, sister, aunt, and mom she could be. May her
soul find peace and comfort with Our Lord in Heaven. We love you Lyn and will miss you dearly.

A private memorial Mass was held on August 4 th , 2023, at St. Agnes Cathedral with Msgr.
Thomas Reidy officiating. Following the Mass, Lyn was buried at Resurrection Cemetery, (4677
W. Division St., Springfield, MO 65803).
