Elaine grew up in the Ozarks, first on a farm near Lebanon MO, attended schools in Buffalo MO and after moving to Springfield MO graduated from Hillcrest High School in 1967. While working at A & W as a car hop, she met Terry Bowmaster, who worked the grill. She and Terry would get married on January 27, 1968. From this marriage she would travel to New Hampshire for Terry's studies and gave birth to her first daughter named Lara over the summer in Kansas City, MO on August 9, 1969. After his graduation, they relocated to Minneapolis, Minnesota where they gave birth to daughter, Sara on May 29,1972. Throughout their marriage they would also live in England and travel extensively through Europe and the United States, and although the marriage ended in 1979, they would remain friends until her death, including his wife Michele as a good friend.

Elaine was a proud graduate of the College of St. Catherine in St. Paul, Minnesota in May of 1988, graduating Summa Cum Laude after six years in the weekend studies program with a major in Communications. She enjoyed working for many years at General Mills Corporation and also owned her own word processing business, "The Right Type." Elaine would reside in the Minneapolis suburb of Plymouth for over 20 years before returning to the Springfield, MO area in 1995.

While living back home in the Springfield area, Elaine enjoyed gardening, playing with her dogs, and supporting many local charities. Some of these charities include the Springfield Library Association, SW MO Canine Rescue, KSMU Public Radio and the Huntington's Disease Society of America. She worked for many years at BKD in the Hammons Tower in downtown Springfield and retired due to medical reasons in 2010. She was very proud to support the Huntington's Disease Walk for Hope organized by her niece Kim Sartin with her husband Jimmy. She also loved listening to music, taking walks, visiting parks, traveling, reading books and spending time with family.

Elaine is survived by her two daughters and their families: Lara Elaine (Bowmaster) Bostic and husband William Bostic, and their children Arthur James (AJ) Daube and his fiancé Savannah Ruby, Larissa Marie Oliver, and Lisbeth Ilene Bostic; and Sara Elisabeth (Bowmaster) Anderson and her son Ruben Wayne (Ben) Garcia. She is also survived by her siblings Lynda (Gene) Adams, Barbara (Mike) Mitchem and Mark (Patti) Johnson and their families. She is survived by many beloved nieces and nephews and their families as well.
