Obituary for Martha Jean "Jeannie" Sanford
Martha Jean “Jeannie” Sanford, age 74, passed away on Wednesday, March 6, 2019 at her home in Springfield, Missouri.
She was born July 25, 1944 in Miami, Oklahoma, the daughter of Clyde and Mary (Boswell) Cox.
Jeannie married Stephen Sanford on June 18, 1966.
Jeannie had a generous spirit, lively personality, and spent many years advocating for people with disabilities.
She is survived by Steve, her husband of 52 years; son, Ryan and his wife Adrienne, and their two children, Molly and Megan of Nixa, Missouri; son, Brent and his three children, Tayler, Colby and Carlie and great granddaughter, Layla, all of Springfield, Missouri; and daughter, Rebecca.
She is also survived by her sister, Sue Lamb of Stockton, California; brother, Johnny Cox and wife Beverly of Republic, Missouri; brother, Billy Cox of Springfield, Missouri; sister, Cookie King and husband Wayne of Republic, Missouri; sister, Judy Bruton and husband Tom of Springfield, Missouri; sister-in-law, Jeannie Kieser of Springfield, Missouri; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Jeannie was preceded in death by her parents, Clyde and Mary Cox.
A memorial visitation will be held from 4:00-5:00 pm Saturday, March 16, 2019 at Victory Baptist Church, 252 N. Nicholas Road, Nixa, Missouri.
Private interment will be held at Delaware Cemetery, 1194-1198 Delaware Town Road in Nixa, Missouri.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Jeannie’s name to “A Sporting Chance”, 1501 E. Pythian Street, Springfield, Missouri 65802.
