Obituary for Marjorie Daniel (Whitehouse)

Marjorie “Marge” Lee Daniel, 83, peacefully departed for the Heavenly Kingdom and the arms of her Savior on Monday, December 7, 2020, from her home in Springfield, MO.

Marjorie was born June 3, 1937, to Roy Whitehouse and Lucille Wagner Whitehouse in Bloomington, IL. As the first child of five reared on McLean and DeWitt County farms, she had many responsibilities at a young age. After a variety of country schools, she and the family moved to a farm in West Township, McLean County, where she was able to attend and graduate from Bellflower, IL, schools and had the opportunity to make many lifelong friends. She grew to be a fiercely loyal sister, beloved aunt, and true friend to the people (or lost dogs or cats) who crossed her path.

Marge married Springfield, MO, attorney Wm. Ray Daniel on October 12, 1972. Their life together involved many common interests including an active church life, property management, and working to improve communities by making good homes available to hard-working citizens. After leaving her career at Aetna Insurance, she volunteered with Meals on Wheels for 37 years while continuing property management. Marjorie enjoyed travel with “The Four Former Chicks Vacation Club” who were able to take eight wonderful trips around the Central and Eastern United States. Ray preceded her in death in 1999.

Also preceding her in death were her parents, one sister (Marilyn), and one brother (Roy). She is survived by one brother, Kenneth Whitehouse; one sister, Barbara (John G.) Whitehouse-Gercken; and many nephews, nieces, and their children.

The funeral will be Saturday, December 12, 2020, at Herman H. Lohmeyer Funeral Home at 11:00 AM with visitation occurring one hour before the service. A graveside service at Bellflower Township Cemetery will be held at a time yet to be determined.
