Obituary for Marie Capuano

Marie Rita Capuano, 94, joined Jesus and her husband, Donald, in their heavenly home on April 15, 2023 – the date of their 62nd wedding anniversary. Marie was a devoted wife to her late husband, Donald; dearest mother to Donald Capuano (Julie), Marie Jarek (Mark), and Donna Moore (Steve); loving Grandma to Diana (Devin), Michelle (Josh), Kacey (Zachary), Grant, (Kali), and Elyse; and a proud Great- Grandma to Hayden Marie, Tucker, Cooper, Sonny, and Leo. Marie’s parents, Rosario and Salvatore; sister, Jenny; and brothers, Carmen and Frank all preceded her in death.

Marie was born and raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She worked as a Bookkeeper at Fox Transport Company, where she met the love of her life, Donald, at the age of 22. When she and Donald started their family, Marie stayed at home to care for their three children and proudly maintained her bookkeeping skills by steadfastly managing the family’s finances. As their life together took Donald and Marie to Indiana, Arizona, and Missouri, her primary love remained a three-way tie between Jesus, her husband, and her children — although the beach was a close second. Marie and Donald owned a beach house in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, where they spent many weekends with the family.

Marie’s hobbies included playing card games and board games – especially Scrabble or any other game suggested by her daughter, Donna, or the great-grandchildren. With the invention of closed captioning, Marie grew to adore watching classic movies, ice skating, and Wheel of Fortune.

The grace and love of Jesus was evident to anyone she encountered throughout her life, including the staff at The Neighborhoods at Quail Creek, who lovingly assisted her family in caring for her since February. Marie’s memory will live on in our hearts until Jesus brings us all back together in our heavenly home.
