Obituary for Larry Garland Collins

Larry Garland Collins, 82, of Bentonville, Arkansas passed away peacefully on May 11, 2023, surrounded by his daughters and friends, under the care of Circle of Life Hospice in Bella Vista, Arkansas.

Larry was born on December 15, 1940 in Springfield, Missouri. Larry graduated Parkview High School, Springfield, Mo. in 1958. Larry was drafted into the US Army 1960 and received an honorable discharge as a Specialist 5, after 6 years of service.

Larry moved to Bella Vista in 1975 where he started work for Walmart. His work for Walmart moved him across the United States, and he eventually returned to Northwest Arkansas. Larry retired as a beloved Sam’s Club “Door Greeter'' in Bentonville and lived the rest of his life as an avid Kansas City Chiefs fan, an in-depth history buff, and vintage car enthusiast. He enjoyed studying the Bible and his favorite character was Moses. Larry had an acute memory for dates and could name that song, artist, actor, or movie before anyone else in the room. His stories about the good ole days never disappointed those lucky enough to hear them.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Harriett Geraldine Robertson and Joseph Garland Collins, and brother James Stephen Collins.

Larry is survived by his daughters: Geri (Dan) Lee, and Heather (Adam) Bennett and two grandchildren: Elizabeth (Jace), and Alyx (Tyler), along with four great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his beloved niece and nephew; Kristen (Brad) and Anthony (Angelica) and a great niece and nephew.

A Graveside Service for Larry will be held at 2:00pm on Friday, July 7, 2023 at Maple Park Cemetery in Springfield, Missouri. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Herman H. Lohmeyer Funeral Home in Springfield.

In lieu of flowers, Larry’s Family encourages contributions to a charity of your choice.
